In Bulgaria, IOM is focusing on responding to the current migration situation in the country, in support of the Bulgarian Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. 

Context: Under the direct and overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Sofia, Bulgaria, the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for the implementation on the information activities for facilitation of the integration and cultural adaptation of the third country nationals and raising of the awareness of Bulgarian society. 

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Provides reliable and up-to-date information and assists in the preparation of information materials related to the integration of migrants, increasing tolerance, overcoming prejudices and forming positive attitudes towards the third country nationals (TCNs);

  2. Assists the organization of the envisaged project multicultural events, in order to facilitate cultural adaptation and increase the tolerance;

  3. Collaborate with migrants’ communities in Bulgaria by promoting the project activities and informing the TCNs;

  4. Assists the organization of workshops, seminars, roundtables, information events and other events aimed to facilitate the integration of TCNs;

  5. Assists the coordination of the Project activities with representatives of national institutions, non-governmental and international organizations and media organizations;

  6. Assists with the preparation of presentations, information materials and other documents and distribute them at conferences, seminars and other events;

  7. Prepares monthly activity reports and assists in the preparation of quarterly reports;

  8. Performs other tasks assigned by the project management team;

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanitarian or Plotical Sciences, International Relations, Business Administration or related field from an accredited academic institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience; 

  • High School degree with at least four years of relevant professional experience; 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Experience

  • Knowledge of Migration issues would be a distinct advantage;

  • Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage

Languages

Fluency in English and Bulgarian is required.
