In Bulgaria, IOM is focusing on responding to the current migration situation in the country, in support of the Bulgarian Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved. 

Context: Under the direct and overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Sofia, Bulgaria, the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for the planning, implementation and reporting of the activities in the field of integration implemented by IOM and more precisely the migrant information centers in Sofia and Burgas, also she/he will facilitate the communication and networking with public authorities, NGOs, migrant communities and other relevant stakeholders in respect to migrant integration in Bulgaria.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the HoO in the management of activities of IOM migrant information centers in Sofia and Burgas

  2. Coordinate project activities with the Finance and Administrative Unit to ensure that administrative, financial, and logistics matters are carried out appropriately, timely and efficiently

  3. Facilitate the cooperation with national stakeholders, organize work meetings with migrant and refugee communities, local authorities and public institutions, engaged in the process of integration of migrants in Bulgaria

  4. Draft public information materials (i.e. leaflets and posters, etc.) on the work of the information centers to be publicised by IOM Bulgaria in social media/networks and on IOM Bulgaria website in Bulgarian and English

  5. Propose activities and develop ideas for integration events to be organized by the migrant information centers to improve social orientation and cultural adaptation; coordinate the logistical aspects of the events and actively participate in the successful completion of these events

  6. Support the work of short term experts and consultants in the provision of individual counselling facilitating migrant’s access to institutions, as well as to the public and private services, incl. professional orientation and vocational training aiming at facilitation of employment and maintain a record-book on the consultations provided

  7. Conduct on-site information sessions for migrants, including in the Reception centres of the State Agency for Refugees

  8. Maintain of website/forum for exchange of information on migrant integration

  9. Prepare monthly reports on the implementation of activities by the migrant information centers

  10. Support the preparation of the final technical report on the activities of the migrant information centers

  11. Represent IOM at events, meetings and conferences, in coordination with the HoO in the field of migrant integration in Bulgaria

  12. Undertake other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, or related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three years of relevant professional experience; 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


  • Knowledge of Migration issues would be a distinct advantage;

  • Previous work experience with EU donors would be a distinct advantage 

  • Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage


Fluency in English and Bulgarian is required.
