In Bulgaria, IOM is focusing on responding to the current migration situation in the country, in support of the Bulgarian Government and in cooperation with all other agencies involved.


Context: Under the direct and overall supervision of the Head of Office (HoO) in Sofia, Bulgaria, the successful candidate will be accountable and responsible for the planning, implementation and reporting of the activities in the field of counter-trafficking implemented by IOM, as well as she/he will facilitate the communication and networking with public authorities, NGOs, migrant communities and other relevant stakeholders in respect to countertrafficking in Bulgaria.


Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate IOM Bulgaria activities in the domain of reintegration of Victims of Trafficking (VoT) in Human Beings under the guidance of the Project Officer and in close coordination with the Finance and Administrative Unit to ensure that administrative, financial, and logistics matters are carried out appropriately, timely and efficiently
  2. Support the Project Officer of IOM Bulgaria in the development and implementation of support and reintegration programs taking into consideration the victim centred response incl. the provision of reintegration package of measures to achieve sustainable and permanent return and assistance for VoTs
  3. Facilitate cooperation with national stakeholders, organize work meetings, thematic workshops and training sessions of partner NGOs, local authorities and public institutions, engaged in the process of identification, referral and support of VoT
  4. Support the implementation of witness protection programmes and individually tailored programmes
  5. Carry out individual consultations with victims of trafficking and organize general medical care, psychological counselling, emergency assistance, hospitalization, as well as shelter assistance for consulted persons, if needed
  6. Represent IOM at events, meetings and conferences in coordination with the HoO in the field of countertrafficking in Bulgaria
  7. Draft public information materials (i.e. leaflets and posters, etc.) on the topic of countertrafficking to be publicized by IOM Bulgaria in social media/networks and on IOM Bulgaria website in Bulgarian and English
  8. Assist in preparation of narrative and financial project reports to donors arising from operational activities
  9. Undertake other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, or related field from an accredited academic institution with at least three years of relevant professional experience;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


  • Knowledge of Migration issues would be a distinct advantage;
  • Previous work experience with EU donors would be a distinct advantage
  • Previous work experience in international organizations and companies would be an advantage



Fluency in English and Bulgarian is required.
