Educational and recreational activities during quarantine

The unaccompanied children in the Safety zone in RRC Sofia – Voenna Rampa continue to receive daily assistance from the IOM team during the quarantine due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The boys participate actively in the sports and educational activities, organized by IOM, observing the safety measures, including social distancing. Every day they have physical exercises, as well as other sports activities in the sports field on the territory of the RRC. In the last days they lent variety to their activities by flying kites, made from household items, as well as with a picnic of sorts in the courtyard, accompanied by card games and lots of laughter.

Other than the sports activities, the children work on their education in subjects like history, geography and English with IOM’s social workers. The youths have weekly online consultations with an IOM psychologist who is working along with the social workers with the aim to establish a psycho-social educational programme for the children.
