Info session by the seaside for legally residing migrants

An info session for legally residing migrants in Burgas was conducted on 18 August 2020. The info session took place at the “Flora” Expo Centre, situated by the seaside in the Sea Garden, Burgas. 30 migrants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus participated in the meeting.

Mrs Maria Kassarova, consultant in this project, presented the functionality of the National Insurance Institute in Bulgaria and its actions in coordination and implementation of the international contracts in the field of social security and welfare. Local institutions with expertise in the field of social security, pension and health security were also presented and addressed to the migrants.

The information was quite useful for the migrants and they had a number of questions in a Q&A session afterwards. Lots of individual questions were asked and answered by the IOM experts.

During the second part of the session, a lecture presenting the biodiversity of Burgas and region was led by Ph.D. Svetla Dalakchieva, deputy leader of Department “Natural science”, Regional History Museum, Burgas. She presented the region of Burgas as one of the richest in biodiversity in Bulgaria particularly with the large number of birds that could be observed in this area.

This info session ended up with a visit of the spectacular and colourful exhibition “Live Butterflies” in the Expo Centre “Flora”.

Thе activity is part of the project “Training and consultation of legal migrants and persons seeking or having received international protection”, funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the EU and implemented by the International Organization for Migration.
