The IOM team in Burgas organized another information session for migrants

A new information session was organized by IOM’s Information Centre for Immigrants in Burgas this autumn. The session was organized in Sozopol with migrants from Sozopol and Chernomorets present. The event was realized on 29.10.2019 in the Museum of Archaeology in Sozopol with 42 migrants participating. The legally staying third country citizens were from Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Belarus with long-term and permanent stay in Republic of Bulgaria.

With the aim of facilitating the social orientation and the cultural adaptation of the migrants, two presentations were held by Mrs. Katya Ivanova on the subjects “Institutional and Political System of Bulgaria” and “Get to Know Bulgaria”. Mrs. Ivanova is a senior Philosophy teacher in the Specialized High School for Romance Languages in Burgas. During the same sessions were presented and visited the pedestrian tour “Sozopol – an architectural and archaeological reserve”, as well as the Museum of Ethnography in the city, where a lecture was held by the Director of the Museum of Archaeology in Sozopol Mr. Dimitar Nedev.

In addition, the IOM team in Burgas facilitated the access to regional institutions of the migrants, making sure they have the coordinates of the most sought after institutions in the Sozopol Municipality.

The event is realized in the framework of the project "Training and Counselling of Legal Migrants, Asylum Seekers and Beneficiaries of International Protection" funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020.
