Celebration of 24th May – The Day of the Bulgarian Alphabet with locals and migrants in Burgas

Information Center for migrants in Burgas has organized a cultural event for celebrating 24th of May – Bulgarian Alphabet’s Day. The event took place in the cultural center “Morsko casino”and it was attended by more than 100 persons – both migrants and locals.

PhD Plamen Hristov, chairman of the Black Sea Consultative Center in Burgas, lead a presentation “24th May – Celebration of St St Cyril and Methodii and Bulgarian Alphabet’s Day”. It was full of interesting information and the migrants were thrilled.

The children’s folklore ensemble “Strandzha zelenika”from Elemnetary School “Elin Pelin” in Burgas, leaded by Mrs Pepa Zapryanova, the school’s principal, presented the following program:

• “Glorious Day – St St Cyril and Methodii”, “The earth – full of love”, “Festival with no limits” by singing group of 20 children called “Shtastlivtsi”.

• The folklore group of 14 children “Detelina” presented several songs

• The solo musicians Ognyan Ognyanov and Danail Papazov, from “Shareni gaydi” part of the chore “Trepetlika” showed the audience their expertise in playing on traditional Bulgarian pipes and Alexandra Velikova sang traditional folklore songs.

The performance of children’s ensemble “Strandzha zelenika” added value to this celebration event with the beauty of the Bulgarian voices and traditional costumes from different regions of the country and the ultimate talent of the Bulgarian children.

All activities are realized in the framework of project "Training and counselling of legal migrants and persons seeking/granted with protection" funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014-2020.
