Dance with IOM: Bulgarian traditional dance workshop in Harmanli
Along with the two workshops on oriental dances, IOM organized two workshops to present Bulgarian traditional dances to women and children accommodated in RRC Harmanli. During the first workshop, Paulina Hristova, a certified choreographer and Director of the Community Center “Druzhba 1870”, focused on presenting traditional “horo” dances from different regions in Bulgaria. During the second workshop, the participants who wanted to familiarize themselves with Bulgarian traditional dances had the opportunity to freely study the steps of the most popular dances, and to showcase their own national folk dances. The two workshops succeeded in their goal to present the culture of the host society to migrant communities and passed with a lot of laughter, smiles and good music.
The event was organized as part of the project “Raising the awareness of the Bulgarian society and migrant communities in Bulgaria,” funded by the National Program of Bulgaria under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund 2014–2020.
